Lawyers boycotted court proceedings on Monday to intensify their protest against the construction of six new canals on the River Indus.
The sit-in protest by lawyers at the Babarloi Bypass, opposing the new canals on the Indus, has been ongoing alongside the boycott of court proceedings.
Responding to a call from the Sindh Bar Council, lawyers refrained from participating in judicial proceedings across all courts in Sukkur, as well as in other districts of Sindh.
Court activities remained suspended at the Sukkur High Court bench, sessions court, accountability court, and various lower courts.
President of the High Court Bar Sukkur, Qurban Mallano, stated that the boycott initiated by the Sindh Bar Council would continue until their demands are met. He emphasized that the construction of new canals on the Indus River is against the interests of the people of Sindh, and the protest sit-in and court boycott will persist until an official notification is issued to halt the canal construction project.
